HANCOCK - Wood Frog Frolic and Giant Salamander Safari at the pools that have been monitored for two decades. The leader will be Tom Tyning, a famously funny and knowledgeable herpetologist professor from 7-9:30pm.

HOPKINTON - Rotary Scholarship Applications are available. Complete and return the application to the guidance office by May.
WARNER - Rebecca Courser with the Warner Historical Society will be at the Mainstreet Bookends at 7pm for ”A Sketch of Warner”...a look at an 1865 Granite State Monthly Article by Amanda Harris, highlighting the events and opinions of the day. All donations go directly to Warner Historical Society to support their on-going preservation work. Complimentary, light refreshments will be available.

DEERING - The Deering Community Church on Rt. 149 in Deering invites all children and their families to an Earth Day Celebration from 2pm. HENNIKER - The Henniker Rotary Club Annual Cat and Dog Rabies Clinic will be held at the Henniker Fire Station, 2–4pm. Cost: $10.00 each for the first two household pets, $5.00 for each additional pet. Proceeds from this year’s clinic will benefit Farmsteads of New England in Hillsboro, NH. HILLSBOROUGH - In hopes of starting a new tradition, the “1st Annual Spring Jamboree” is being held at the Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1091 from 2-6pm. MANCHESTER - The Borromeo String Quartet will perform at the Currier Museum of Art at 2pm. WEARE - “Reading the Mountains of Home” by Vermont author John Elder will be discussed at the Weare Public Library at 7 PM. Elder looks at conservation and development. ANTRIM - The First Presbyterian Church on Main Street will hold its 88th Annual May Breakfast from 7:30-9am. It will be buffet style with scrambled eggs, home fries, pancakes, bacon or sausange, toast, coffee & tea. Come enjoy the food, fun and fellowship! All welcome! $6.00 per person.
ANTRIM - The Antrim Youth Fishing Derby will be held from 8-10 am, rain or shine, at the Mill Pond in Memorial Park. The derby is for anyone who is 15 and younger. Prizes in many categories. Participants should bring their own bait and equipment. The Antrim Recreation Take Me Fishing Club will have some equipment to loan and volunteers on hand, if your child does not have a rod. DEERING - The Town of Deering Cleanup Day is scheduled from 8am until noon. There will be a drop off area at the Town Hall as well as refreshments. Bags will also be available at the Town Hall.
HENNIKER - The Henniker Youth Soccer Organization will host a a referee clinic on May 3 for people who want to obtain a USSF Grade 9 Recreational Referee license. This course will be led by a representative of the NH Soccer Referee Instructional Program and participants must be 12 years of age at the time of the clinic. Grade 9 referees are also eligible to work travel games as an assistant referee only up to U-14. It will be held at the Henniker Community School from 8am-5pm (bring your own lunch). HENNIKER - Henniker the Beautiful Day! The 7th grade and Henniker Recycling Committee will take to the streets to clean up trash revealed by the recent snow melt and would love your help. The event starts at 8 a.m. in the parking lot of the Henniker Grange Hall and plastic bags and gloves will be supplied. If you cannot join us, please reach out to sponsor a 7th grader as this clean up is a fundraiser for their school trip to Washington, DC next year. HILLSBOROUGH - Join the Hillsborough Conservation Commission for a vernal pool walk in Fox Forest at 4pm. We’ll discuss vernal pool ecology and search for frogs, salamanders and more. Meet at the main parking lot at Fox Forest Headquarters on Center Road. Light hiking shoes recommended.
HOPKINTON - Build a birdhouse at the Hopkinton Town Library at 1 PM. Materials will be provided to make a bird house for feathery friends looking for a new home this spring. It could be a gift- just in time for Mother’s Day! The program is open to children in kindergarten through sixth grade. WEARE - Creating Gardens Using Containers – Margaret Hagan, Agricultural Educator for the UNH Cooperative Extension will deliver an illustrated talk on container gardening at the Weare Public Library. The talk begins at 7 PM and is free to the public. It is cosponsored by the Weare Garden Club and Weare Public Library. The public is encouraged to attend at no charge. KEENE - The Keene Senior Center at 70 Court Street is offering a community knitting get-together every Friday from 1-3. This is a drop-in group who knits and crochets, and just enjoys each others’ company. Yarn, needles, hooks, patterns and supplies are provided free of charge to those who knit for charity. PETERBOROUGH - See 105 Great Things at the Peterborough Historical Society until May 23rd. We selected one thing collected for each year of the Society’s history to explore our history. These 105 things tell us how people live, worked, learned and built a community. Fees are $3/adult, members and children under 12 are free. The exhibit is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10am to 4pm at 16 Grove Street.
