HOPKINTON - The Hopkinton Independent School will host a summer camp open house for Camp Tuckernuck from 9am to noon.
WEARE - A NH Humanities Council lecture, “Popular Music During World War II: Using Propaganda to Boost Morale,” will be presented at 7pm, at Weare Town Hall. Speaker Calvin Knickerbocker will bring samples of music from hundreds of songs written to unify the country and increase morale both at home and in the military. Hosted by Weare Public Library and Weare Historical Society, admission is free and refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

HOPKINTON - Meet the Author Drawing Class at Columbia Hall. Bring your children ages 4-8 to meet the artist/author of the Children’s Book Doodles. Byron Carr will give a short drawing story of how he started scribbling as a kid and created a kid’s book as an adult. ANTRIM - Gardening with the Whole Family is being co-sponsored by the Grapevine. Kin Schilling & Susie Spikol will share gardening tips and secrets to successful gardening with children at 7pm at the Grapevine Family Center.
WASHINGTON - The Washington Histoical Society meeting will feature the Eccardt Farm. Hans and Julie Eccardt will give a history of their family and share some of their interesting experiences. The meeting will be held at the Camp Morgan Lodge. The pot luck supper will begina at 6pm and the program will begin at 7:30pm. Everyone invited.

HOPKINTON - The Annual Hopkinton Fun Fair will take place from 10am-2pm at Harold Martin School. Sponsored by the Hopkinton PTA, it will take place rain or shine. Games and fund, plus a silent auction.

HOPKINTON - Please join the Hopkinton Recreation Department and the Little Nature Museum for an evening of eye-opening wonder. We will be presenting a PBS documentary showing the importance of a healthy environment for your children called “Where do the Children Play?” This one-hour documentary will be shown upstairs in Columbia Hall at 6:30pm. To compliment the movie, there will be a special guest speaker. During the program, the Little Nature Museum will host an array of activities downstairs that will explore the wonders of nature for children aged 5-12 years.

HOPKINTON - Well-known, local classical pianist Jayne Kelly will perform at the First Congregational Church of Hopkinton. This concert is sponsored as a fundraiser in celebration of ‘Tween School ‘n Home’s 25th anniversary as a non-profit, communitty-based education and fun-filled after-school care to children in grades K-6. HOPKINTON - The Line Dancing Workshop back by popular demand taught by Pat and Jim. This workshop is for beginners to intermediate dancers and no partner is necessary. The class will start May 21 and go until June 25. It will be held at Columbia Hall on the upstairs dance floor from 7pm – 8:30pm. Cost is $15 per person for the six-week workshop. WASHINGTON - The Washinton Rescue Squad is sponsoring Drugs & Kids, a program about drugs for parents, grandparents, and community members. The presentation will cover the signs and symptoms of drug use and include the paraphernalia associated with drug use. Presenter: Lisa A. HILLSBOROUGH - Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Scramble to Raise Money for Scholarships. It’s TEE TIME!!! This year’s event will be held at Crotched Mountain Golf Club. Last year’s golf scramble raised enough money to award two $1500 scholarships which will be awarded at the High School Awards Ceremony in June. Registration is $100 per player and includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, free driving range balls, breakfast & lunch, prizes, on-course golf contests, Fantasy Golf and a chance at getting a hole-in-one and winning a new Arctic Cat donated by Livingston’s Arctic Cat. HENNIKER - Don’t miss the 6th Annual Mary’s Run at 9:30 a.m. Held every year in memory of Mary Coffin, the event will begin at the Henniker Community School in downtown Henniker. Registrations will be held at the Henniker Community School on Saturday, May 31 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and again on race day from 8-9:15 a.m. All proceeds benefit the Mary Coffin Scholarship Fund. HOPKINTON - American Red Cross Swim Lessons will once again held at Kimball Pond. The classes will be for children ages 4 years or older and will include four levels taught at various times. Cost is $35 per two-week session and sessions run from Monday through Thursday with Friday as a make-up day if a class is cancelled. HOPKINTON - Hopkinton Summer Day Camp is again being offered. Last year’s camp was a complete success with more than 200 campers during the seven weeks! The camp is for youth ages 6 through 12 years and will include seven one-week sessions beginning June 30th and ending August 15th (no camp on Friday, July 4th). Activities will include arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, swimming, weekly field trips, special events and safe fun for everyone. HOPKINTON - The British Soccer Camp is back by popular demand! Last year’s camp attracted more than 80 youngsters as the coaches from England helped every participant fine tune their soccer skills, while keeping all entertained. Camp will be held July 28 through August 1 and will include full- and half-day sessions with a mini-session for the young ones. KEENE - The Keene Senior Center at 70 Court Street is offering a community knitting get-together every Friday from 1-3. This is a drop-in group who knits and crochets, and just enjoys each others’ company. Yarn, needles, hooks, patterns and supplies are provided free of charge to those who knit for charity. Membership is not required for this group. Stop by the office and ask for Roberta.
PETERBOROUGH - See 105 Great Things at the Peterborough Historical Society until May 23rd. We selected one thing collected for each year of the Society’s history to explore our history. These 105 things tell us how people live, worked, learned and built a community. Fees are $3/adult, members and children under 12 are free. The exhibit is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10am to 4pm at 16 Grove Street.
